Lauryn explained the track as being about “confrontation,” as she delivered the piece as a spoken word, rhyming:

“Black rage is founded, who fed us self hatred/lies and abuse while we waited and waited/spiritual treason, this grid and it’s cages/Black rage is founded on these kinds of things/Black rage is founded on drainin’ and drainin’/ Threatenin’ of freedom to stop your complainin’/ Pausin’ your water while they say it’s rainin’/ Then call you mad for complainin’, complainin’/old time bureaucracy druggin the youth/black rage is founded on blocking the truth.”

Talk about thought-provoking.

Lauryn and Nas will continue their tour in Houston, Texas tonight.
