I’ve been a Lakers fan since the ’80s – the glory days when Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held court. Back then, games against the Celtics would have me battling my best friend, who played as Larry Bird, into the wee hours of the morning in my back yard.

As I’m getting all nostalgic, mark my words this season the “magic” will be back (pun intended). The Lakers not only have a strong base of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, but also Steve Nash and Dwight Howard are guaranteed to strengthen the offense, defense and the courtside circus that is the Lake Show. While the Lakers always have a place in the post-season, this is the year they take home the trophy.
All eyes should be on Dwight Howard. After leading the talentless Magic to victories, he can only be stronger when surrounded by some of the top players in the game. And while the Miami Heat had their 1-minute to shine on a shortened season, we all know they’re getting nervous – the new dream team is in Los Angeles. So if you haven’t already gotten on the Lakers bandwagon, now might be the time to go out and get your season pass.
