What a week. If you live in the tri-state area, this last week and a half has been like a walking nightmare. Prayers to everyone who lost someone during Sandy. Prayers also to everyone with no power surviving these brutal temps. All that said, we’ve elected the man Obama for another historical four more years. To celebrate check out this new tidbit from Fabolous called “For The Love.” Loso has been heavy in the press with his much anticipated new mixtape S.O.U.L. Music II and his freestyle for the new season of NBA’s The Association: Brooklyn Nets. “For The Love” is just something light weight for the fans of Fab to chew on while his new shit the streets up.

Let’s keep in Def Jam on this next one. Young Jeezy is known for his street anthems that ring out in every hood. At first look, the title to Jeezy’s new track “We Done It Again” would have you think he’s regurgitating another success story of D Boy turned music mogul. But then you listen and you realize this is a lyrical call to arms for every person of color, of low economic standing, every child with life changing obstacles in front of him/ her, etc. The beat on this resembles drumsticks hitting the side of the drum looped over and over. It’s what Young Jeezy is saying on this that’s makes this dope music. Word to President Obama, “We Done It Again.”

It seems like just last week I was telling myself T.I. really needs that fire song. That record that rings off in any party when it comes on. That record that fans can’t wait to see performed live because it’s a riot starter. Then this week I heard the new track “Still In This Bitch.” Word to Veteran’s Day, mission accomplished. “In This Bitch” features T.I.P., a super swanky 16-bar stat by Bobby Ray Bands himself, B.o.B, and of course my favorite MC south of NYC but west of the ATL, Juicy J. T.I. is really digging in, trying to find that hot streak of hits he had before the lock up. I almost forgot B.o.B was part of the Grand Hustle army but this track is fire and hopefully starts a riot in a club near you.

Did Chrisette Michele really just shout out the hipster scene in Williamsburg? You have to peep this new joint that leaked this week called “Rich Hipster.” I heard this a few weeks back at the Dre Beats party in NYC. This is a fun tune that I’m sure will give all those tight jean wearing, thrift store shopping out-of-towners on Bedford Ave from North 10 to Havermeyer something to rant about. For the ‘cool’ factor Michelle recruits MMG capo Wale, who is always just mad cool. For her part Chrisette does what she does best which is “her thang” on the track. Enjoy.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston. It still hurts to say that a year and some months later. A new track surfaced this week titled “Never Give Up.” It’s very inspirational track that can be applied to any facet in life, especially when your go through those tough moments. This truly a great song but I hate that it sounds so unfinished. That’s what happens though when our truly great singers leave us too soon. Whitney doesn’t sound like the Whitney of old on this. Still there is enough of her talent, energy and vocal presence to make this must hear music for any fan of great music. Until we read again…

Until we read again…
