The shooting occurred near the Thurgood Marshall dormitory for upperclassmen and seems to have stemmed from a disagreement between two parties.

According to reports by the Baltimore Sun:

Officers are evacuating a dormitory in the Thurgood Marshall complex, university spokesman Clint Coleman said.  It is unclear whether the shooting occurred inside or outside of the dormitory for upperclassmen, he said.

“It looks as if grew from a dispute between two individuals and that dispute resulted in one person being shot,” said Coleman.

The identity and the condition of the victim have not been released.  Coleman said he did not know if the victim or suspect are students.

The campus was placed on lockdown for about an hour, but the university has since issued an “all clear” message, with the exception of the area around Blount Towers residence hall.

Baltimore City police confirmed a shooting shortly before 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of E. Cold Spring Lane, which runs directly through campus.

The campus is currently on lockdown, asking students to stay in place.
