You may know him as the over the top, in your face Miami rapper Gunplay, but to the courts, the Dade Country rapper is known simply by his government name (Richard Morales) and the rap sheet attached to it. 

Back in October, Gunplay was arrested by the authorities for his possible involvement in an armed robbery at a tax preparation office located in Miami-Dade County. The robbery was caught on film and Gunplay was suspected to be the man on video toting a gun.

The aforementioned event was coupled with a melee at the BET Hip-Hop Awards earlier this year.

GlobalGrind’s Sharon Carpenter had the opportunity to catch up with Gunplay just hours after he appeared in court regarding his case.

The rapper spoke with us exclusively via Skype while on house arrest awaiting a new court date and working on his mixtape Cops and Robbers, while simultaneously focusing on his debut solo album Medellin, due out next year.

The Def Jam artist may be on house arrest and facing life in prison for aggravated assault and robbery, but his spirit hasn’t been broken.
