As the nation reels from the shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school last week, news of another plotted massacre is reaching the public.

Von Meyer of Indiana was arrested on Friday, the same day as the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, with a stock pile of 47 guns and ammunition. His wife called the Cedar Lake Police, claiming that Meyer was going to “kill as many people as he could before police could stop him.”

Meyer allegedly said that he was going to light his wife on fire once she fell asleep. His plan didn’t end there, however, as he set his sights on the Jane Ball Elementary School, which is less than 1,000 feet away from his home.

The police report states that the school is easily accessed from Meyer’s home by a series of trails and paths that cut through a wooded area.

Officials at Jane Ball School were notified, and they immediately took unspecified security measures.

And stop him they did. Meyer now faces four counts of felony intimidation, two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count of domestic battery.

According to the Daily Mail, Meyer is a known member of the Invaders Motorcycle Gang; a group similar to another outlaw group, Hells Angels.

We applaud the police for stopping Meyer, but we need to do more as a nation to stop events like this from happening at all!
