“Here’s what I think we should do. This week I called on Congress to take up and pass common-sense legislation that has the support of the majority of the American people, including banning the sale of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips, and making sure criminals can’t take advantage of legal loopholes to get their hands on a gun,” he said.

The petition, which has 197,000 plus signatures, is said to be the most popular petition since the “We The People” platform began.

Just yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama penned a letter of support to Newtown, conveying that they were not alone in their struggle and highlighting her husband’s role in the gun-control reform storm.

Earlier this week, Obama assigned Vice President Joe Biden to a gun-control task team that will have concrete proposals on gun reform at the beginning of next year.

The people spoke and our president responded. Looks like he’s relentlessly urging Congress and the nation to get on board!
