It is officially the last full day of the year!

It’s been a long time coming, but 2013 is almost here. Without fail there are a million things that will be going on for New Year’s Eve, but like every other Monday for the past year, we have found some great things that you can do today that won’t cost you any money at all.

See The New Year’s Eve Fireworks In Brooklyn’s Prospect Park

Thousands of people flock into beautiful Prospect Park for this event that takes place every year right in Brooklyn NY. Like visiting Times Square, you won’t have to worry about finding a “good seat” because you can get a great view from anywhere in the Grand Army Plaza, inside the Park on the West Drive or along Prospect Park. The fireworks begin at midnight and last for about 20 minutes and like many other events that take place in Brooklyn there will be a gorgeous diversity, with thousands of people of different backgrounds all staring up at the sky watching successive blasts of color mark a new beginning, a new year.

Visit The Underground Atlanta Peach Drop

If you thought watching a giant ball drop in New York was cool, leave it up to Georgia to drop a peach. Taking place downtown at Underground Atlanta, the Peach Drop boasts children’s activities and live entertainment before finishing off festivities with the descent of an 800-pound peach as the countdown to the New Year begins. A tradition in Atlanta, the first Peach Drop took place in 1989 and each year the 8 foot tall and 8 foot wide peach is painted and refurbished for the following year. More than 100,000 spectators ring in the New Year at the Peach Drop in Atlanta.

Financial Tip Of The Day

Try Finding A House Party

We know that most people want to celebrate the New Year in style and that usually means going to a nightclub. The only problem with that is that nightclubs jack up the price to an astronomical level for New Year’s Eve. If you are willing to compromise, try seeing if any of your friends are having a party to ring in the new year and visit them. You will avoid the astronomical entrance fees but make sure that you are polite and bring a bottle of wine, or some other type of alcohol.
