One person inside the home was able to escape and alert authorities.

USA Today reports:

Police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson says the suspect was shot and killed when he exchanged fire with officers at about 9 a.m. The three victims – all adults – appeared to have been killed earlier.


Four people were found dead earlier this morning in an Aurora home as a gunman held three people hostage and shot them.

According to the Denver Post, the Aurora townhouse was surrounded by police at early hours of the morning after neighbors complained of hearing gunshots in the home around 3 AM.

Police barricaded the home, which led to the gunman keeping them at bay after he killed the four people.

The incident led to police evacuating homes on the block and sent emergency notifications.

There is no word on the identities of the gunman or the victims.
