Steubenville City Schools in Ohio are back in the news today, as information regarding a shooting caused the schools to lock down.

Superintendent Mike McVey has confirmed that a shooting threat was made via social media on Tuesday.

McVey said police told him there was some type of shooting threat made on social media. He was informed by police about the threat around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

McVey initially told NEWS9 over the phone that the threat was geared toward Harding Middle School, and later said the threat was made against an unspecified building in the district.

Students remain at school and have not been dismissed. Investigators are waiting to speak to the person who notified them about the threat.

Because of the news the town is receiving in the wake of the high school rape case, McVey said that there will be a guard station at each building until further notice.

This story is developing.
