It’s been a long haul for Ciara when it comes to her music career.
While she might have been in the media more for her love life this past year, she’s ready to get back into the music spotlight for 2013 while gearing up for a new album.
The 27-year-old singer recently reflected on her path to success on MTV’s show “This Is How I Made It”, where she talks about coming into her own through singing and dancing.

“I was 17 years old so I really wanted to make sure that I spoke from the place that hopefully other young girls would identity with.”
After her first hit “Goodies” went number 1 on the charts, CiCi was already thinking of her next single and how to stay in the spotlight:
“I was so determined to just keep getting better.”

She also talked about the low album sales that “Basic Instinct” received 2 years ago:
“It’s definitely a little punch to the heart when something like that happens. However, those are the moments that define you. I learned a lot not having the best days. I definitely didn’t think about quitting.”
Whether her success continues to flourish or not, Ciara will always be remembered for having so much talent!
