From32 pieces of art will be on display at CHARLES KRAUSE/REPORTING FINE ART that represent the polarizing views on gun reform and to honor the children and families that were affected by the Newtown, Conn. shootings.

Over 70 artists responded to the call to display their art at the gallery; 27 were admitted to display their art at the Krause gallery and agreed to allow the gallery to license images of their work free of charge to any recognized group working to secure passage of new gun control laws. The images and art will also be used for educational or advocacy campaigns.

“I believe fine art of this calibre can change perceptions and influence political change,” said Charles Krause, who conceived the Newtown Project and whose gallery will host the non commercial, not for profit exhibit. “I’ve seen art and artists influence events in Russia, in China and elsewhere. So I believe it can also happen here with an issue like gun safety and gun control.”

Perhaps one of the most politically significant pieces in the exhibit is “Brought To You By The NRA,” by Michael D’Antuono.

“I was so overwhelmed with sympathy for the families and angry for society who created an environment where such a tragedy could happen. Who needs assault weapons? I had this piece finished before Christmas,” he said.
