Welcome back to the work week. We know that you wish the weekend was still here, but we must power forward and take on the week.

Luckily, we have some things for you to do today and the best part is that it won’t cost you a dime. Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and today’s installment of Dollars & Sense takes us through a couple of great things to do while visiting. Check it out below!

Visit The Mirabell Gardens

North of the Salzach lies the Schloss Mirabell and its adjacent gardens, a must for any “Sound of Music” lovers. Several scenes in the film were shot here, including the song “Do Re Mi,” which features the gardens’ central fountain. If you are a fan of scenic walks or just gardens in general, this is one of the greatest around and it’s rich history is good enough reason for a visit.

Tour the City’s churches

The majority of Salzburg’s churches are free to enter, including the blue-domed cathedral, Franziskanerkirch, one of the city’s oldest, and the Baroque Kollegienkirche, with its unique convex façade. If you are a fan of museums, viewing the church’s mosaics and frescos may be equally as entertaining.

Financial Tip Of The Day

Ride Your Bike Or Carpool Whenever Possible

In many of the cities in the US it is hard to get by without a car. That said, just because you have a car does not mean you have to use it every day. Whenever possible, ride your bike or share a ride with a colleague or spouse and save both on gas and reduce the environmental footprint.
