Preparing to fight the fires of the day, fireman Jose Ortiz glanced out the window and saw a woman being dragged down the street by her hair by her crazed husband. Immediately he snapped into action.

As he walked down to end what was the beginning to be a brutal attack, the attacker, Ming Guang Huang, pulled out a meat cleaver and struck his wife, Jinyia You, repeatedly, showing no mercy. The woman tried to fight off her husband, but failed.

Ortiz tried to restrain the attacker but was shocked by his strength. “He was not a big guy, only about 5-foot-5, but the cleaver made him a little taller,” said Ortiz.

Even with Ortiz intervening, the attacker kept on swinging. That’s when fellow firefighters Shane Clarke and Jim Trainor joined in the fight for the woman’s life.

The attack happened in broad day light on Canal Street in New York City. There are no reports of an argument prior to the incident that would provide motive for this vicious attack.

Ortiz says, “Besides the World Trade Center, this was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”

The firefighters were able to restrain the attacker and get a nearby police squad car to arrest the attacker. He remains in custody. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and reported to have lacerations that are not life threatening.

Well, DAMN! Shout outs to the firefighters that rescued this poor woman and continue to save others. SALUTE!
