Miley Cyrus sure knows how to pop her booty.

PHOTOS: RUMOR CONTROL! Miley Cyrus’ Engagement Ring Is Back Where It Belongs…

The Disney starlet surprised us all with a video of herself twerking to “Wop” by J. Dash last week. She’s got skills too, so much skill that the video went viral in a day, with over 6 million views.

VIDEO: Props! Miley Cyrus Twerks In A Unicorn Onesie To “WOP”

The video was so sick that Miley stopped by The Ryan Seacrest show to talk about the inspiration:

“I had a photo shoot earlier that day and so I didn’t really want to get dressed. So I wore the unicorn onesie and my friend was like, ‘Everyone is gone, we have the backdrop and lighting.’ So I started dancing and said, ‘Here’s my phone, will you record it real quick.'”

I rock with Miley Cyrus, I think she’s cool. I think she’s trill and I think she’s about that life. She put in gold teeth, then posed with the Gucci Mane Source cover, cut her hair, she smokes weed and started her own #MCTwerkTeam.

Now that’s where the problem lies. I understand she’s finding herself and getting as far from the Hannah Montana character as she possibly can. I love everything she’s been doing. This is the no judgement zone.

With that said, I personally think Miley needs to pay homage to the Original Twerk Team, Lady Luscious and Mizz Twerksum.

But when Miley was asked to explain twerking, she told Ryan Seacrest:

“You can’t really explain (twerking),” Cyrus added. “It’s something that comes naturally. It’s a lot of booty action.”

Well Miley, you can explain twerking.

If you don’t know anything about the Twerk Team, they’ve been popping that booty for the greater good since 2005! Their first video featured a bunch of girls, then there were three, and now there’s two. They’ve taken the art of twerking to new heights. The Twerk Team has been featured in songs, music videos, and now they’re going on a world tour with Bad Boy recording artist French Montana.

The Official Twerk Team are pretty freaking official. They’ve started a movement of Girl Power and they totally love Miley’s video.

Lady L told me, “I think she’s dope. We think the video is really dope.” Her sister Mizz Twerksum added, “I think she’s having fun. We have started a whole new generation of twerking. It’s a fun dance to do and she did it. “

While Twerk Team is cool with it, there are a lot of people who think Miley should give them credit. To those people, the Original Twerk Team says:

Lady L: “We think it’s cool, it’s not shade being thrown. We don’t really care. People are going to do what they want to do. My sister and I aren’t stressing over it, because we own the name. We own that, it’s my name. I don’t care, she can do what she want to do, everyone knows we are Twerk Team.”

Mizz Twerksum: “She wrote MCTwerkTeam, so I feel like the credit is in the name itself. It’s only one twerk team, so I don’t feel like there is any disrespect. Also we don’t look at it in a negative aspect. She’s opening up twerking to a whole different crowd. A lot of people didn’t even know what it was before she made the video. She was dancing and having fun and she twerked just a little bit. I don’t even take it so seriously.”

Has Miley Cyrus reached out to you at all?

Lady L: “It’s always good for people to see that and it actually be entertaining, but we actually haven’t talked to her at all. Not one time. My sister and I both follow her I remember last year she was like, ‘what was twerk?’ All of our fans started tweeting her our name and stuff, then she just came out with that video. We don’t even know her.

It’s 2013, people are not going to do that, if she wants to reach out to us, it’s easy for her to reach out to us. My sister and I follow her. We are not expecting her to reach out to us, we are at the peak with our stuff, but it is still good publicity for us. We are not trying to ride her wave or anything like that.”

After talking to Lady L and Twerksum, I finally understood that they truly made twerking into a business, and as they both told me, “we are not tripping on Miley at the end of the day, we rep Girl Power.”

And to those who haven’t seen a real twerking video, I give you 5 videos of pure awesome sauce below:
