The New York City Police Department has released a memo supporting redheaded officers who may have fallen victim to bullying. The memo reminded officers that such actions will not be tolerated by the NYPD.
According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), redheads are protected under the workplace equality.
One redheaded police officer said, “We’re apparently victims now. We’re protected from discrimination.”
Growing up as a ginger is not easy, and reportedly, some of the police officers spoke of a bullied childhood. But as adults, some officers see no harm in joking amongst colleagues.
And one retired Irish-American officer said, “I never felt I was a minority.”
Although no lawsuits have been filed, the NYPD want to ensure that all officers are treated fairly.
