Animals are out here winning!

Thanks to Marx Okon, an ex-stockbroker, entrepreneur and business consultant, pet owners suffering from a disappointing economy will no longer have to give up their furry companions due to a lack of funds.

Okon has created a non-profit organization called Pet Food Stamps. People who are on government assistance can apply the same assistance for their pets.

Okon was inspired by a childhood friend who lost her parents and never fully recovered.

“She told me she sometimes fed her cat before herself. Millions of pets are surrendered to shelter each year and euthanized because their owners can’t afford to feed them,” said Okon.

Surprisingly, Okon received multitudes of applications from people who have lost their jobs, their houses, and sometimes their health.

“I just heard from a lady in North Carolina who has an autistic son whose only companion is a Jack Russell Terrier. It’s a cookie-cutter sadness. Little details change but the gist of each story is the same,” said Okon.

Okon is brightening up the lives of those who have seen a frustrating darkness. Good for him!

Any thoughts?
