If you haven’t figured it out from their commercials promoting Tyler Perry’s venture onto the OWN network, he and Oprah Winfrey are great friends.
The two BFFS cover the June 2013 issue of Essence Magazine, looking like one big ball of black power. Oprah looks great (as usual) in a magenta colored dress, while Tyler is seated in a chic blue suit with a pink shirt that compliments Ms. Winfrey quite nicely.
The moguls spoke to the magazine in depth about their business relationship, as well as their friendship.

Tyler Perry on the importance of friendship:
“The most important thing about coming together was making sure we would not lose our friendship because of the business. We have to established ground rules. The main one: Both of us have to continue to live in our truth. If she doesn’t like something, say it. If I don’t like something, I’ll say it. And we’ll figure it out and keep moving on.”
Oprah Winfrey on working with Tyler:
“We both know how rare this is. Where else in the history of our African-American culture have two really, really successful people who can do whatever they want said, ‘Let’s come together and be more powerful – let’s take it to the tenth power?'”
