The mysterious murder of 8-year-old Leila Fowler who was found stabbed to death at her home in Northern California has just made a huge development.

According to the Huffington Post, the 12-year-old brother of the little girl has been arrested and may be charged with homocide after her death.

The unidentified boy told the police that he saw an intruder in their home who was described as tall with grey hair, but police found no sign of burglary.

Investigators did a door-to-door sweep of homes, storage sheds and horse stables scattered across the oak-studded hills foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Divers also searched two nearby reservoirs in search of clues.

Authorities searched the NC home that was shared with their father, stepmother, and siblings, to which they seized several knives as evidence.

A neighbor reported that she saw a man flee from their home the night of Leila’s death, but they later recanted their story.

Leila’s brother was taken into custody at 5:10 p.m. Saturday and police quickly called a news conference to announce the arrest.

Thankfully progress has been made in this tragic case. Our prayers and condolences are with Leila’s family and friends through this tough time.
