Evelyn Lozada takes over the cover of Latina magazine for the upcoming August issue and might we add she looks damn good doing it.

You all know Ev as the Brooklyn raised, no-nonsense, cat fighting Basketball Wife, but in the behind scenes at her Latina cover shoot, she proves herself otherwise.

The proud Puerto Rican descendant explains to Latina that she is definitely growing and maturing now, slowly leaving the bitchy image she portrays on Basketball Wives behind. But don’t worry, Evelyn says she will continue to “tell how it is” on the upcoming season of the show.

Besides Basketball Wives, the star has been working on some pretty big projects. She’s recently created a charity called “Pain Isn’t Love” for women who have and are currently experiencing domestic violence. We all remember what went down between ex–hubby Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Evelyn last summer. Surprisingly Evelyn explains:

I didn’t want to wear the hat of being a domestic violence survivor. But this happened to my life.  It is what it is. I need to flip it and help people.

The new Latina cover girl is also working on her second book in her book series called the Inner Circle. And in her spare time, Evelyn tries to help her nieces, whose father just passed away, by showing them a different and positive life.

But that’s not to say Evelyn makes excuses for her behavior:

I’m not going to blame VH1—whatever I put out there, I put out there…

I want to slowly fade behind the scenes.  I’m still going to be Evelyn, but I have a different vision of my life.

The issue will hit stands July 9th, so make sure to grab your copy!
