Chicago Sky guard and WNBA star Sharnee Zoll-Norman officially announced that she is a lesbian during an interview with the Windy City Times.
A married woman, she’s mentioned her wife a few times during previous interviews. However, Zoll-Norman never really made an official announcement about her sexuality, because she has always tried her best to kept her personal life separate from her professional.
“It’s never been printed,” she said.
Moreover, she never thought that her sexuality was relevant to her career.
“I never felt whether I’m gay, straight, bi, [or] whatever that my sexuality had anything to do with me as a basketball player, and I don’t think it necessarily has anything to do with me as a person,” she said. “If I was straight, I wouldn’t have to come out and say that I was straight.”
Besides speaking about being a lesbian, Zoll-Norman also spoke about her first Pride parade appearance, as well as other personal topics.
Congratulations to you Sharnee! You, along with the other athletes that have come out, are slowly but surely make the world more open-minded and progressive on the right path.
