I am coming off an incredible high of three back to back wedding weekends. My entire body aches from running up and down flights of stairs for 16 hour days and my feet are blistered from choosing  to wear the cute stylish shoes rather than a more comfortable foot friendly shoe. I’ll take the pain because there is nothing else I’d rather be doing. On a wedding day, the only thing that exists to me is that couple and ensuring that they have their perfect wedding so I really don’t feel the aches until the day after. This set of weddings were my first set since I was named ‘Drake’s Muse’ and it was quite a surprise to me when someone at two of three weddings  asked me if I was ‘that girl’.

I planned my first wedding right before my 23rd birthday, I will be turning 25 in a couple weeks and WOW how things have changed. My understanding of love and marriage have become so much greater. My value as a planner, friend and designer have all flourished. I have learned some of my greatest lessons in life and business over the past few years.

I use each wedding or event as an opportunity to improve. I am no where near where I want to be in my business and everyday I will continue to give it 150% until I become one of the greatest planners of our time. I was very caught off guard but I think that they may have been more surprised that I really do plan weddings and I really am the type of planner that will also do the dirty work if needed. If the garbage is overflowing, I’ll change the bag or if there is a spill, I will grab the mop.

My favorite part of the wedding is when the bride walks down the aisle and the glossy eyed groom stares in awe of his perfect bride. It has to be one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and I am so grateful to be able to experience it over and over again. Wedding Planning was something that had always fascinated me especially after The Wedding Planner movie circa 2000 (so cliche, I know).

For years after the movie I would think about how awesome it would be to plan beautiful weddings and luxe events but there was always the fight between becoming a slave to corporate America and having a guaranteed income or possibly being poor but following your dreams. Moving to Atlanta  gave me the push to start my own business, after all, what would I have to loose? I started planning weddings for free and once I had enough experience was able to charge and now have built a full time business.

I am passionate about what I do and I think that people can feel that. I don’t have any regrets in my business, its a learning process, trial and error. For those people wanting to start their own business, I say jump in head first. JUST DO IT. Do what you love, and the money will follow.

xx
