It’s no secret Katy Perry is a hardworking girl, but as she covers ELLE Canada’s October issue with big blue eyes and jet black hair, we learn a lot more about the “Roar” superstar singer.
For one, she believes in astrology and though she’s not formally educated, she is very well-versed on a number of topics – one of those being Transcendental Meditation. Who knew?
In all her honesty, Katy also mentions Rihanna – who she says always looks so fresh – and in the same breath, questions how that’s possible when “we all know how much pot [she] smokes.” She’s definitely got a point there…

On Where She Is Mentally Now That She’s Almost 30:
“I’m 28, and I don’t know how young you are, but, as you must know, when you’re at the end of your 20s, it’s a very important growing time. It’s called the Saturn return, if you like astrology – I know it’s important to me. I think it’s a very important time, when you kind of let go of childish things and accept the wisdom that comes with age. That’s exactly where I am right now.”
On Growing & Leaving Her Struggles Behind:
“I’ve always been a sponge; I’ve always had a desire to learn. I didn’t grow up with a real education, but now I am kind of educated by life.”
On How She Is Able To Find Balance:
“I make sure to give myself a break. I had to find that balance. But I learned this thing called Transendental Meditation, which I do as much as I possibly can. It’s 20 minutes and you’re supposed to do it twice a day, but I only do it once every other day – but anyway, it works. People say you should work out 30 minutes a day – none of us works out 30 minutes a day!”
On Rihanna:
“I think that Rihanna always looks so fresh and I’m like, ‘How do you do that? We all know how much pot you smoke! And you don’t sleep because you’re on Instagram at four o’clock in the morning! I’ll get her secret for you.”
