The best part of Fashion Week can take place outside of the Tents at Lincoln Center. Designer Brian Lichtenberg’s presentation at Chelsea Piers was a prime exemplification that sometimes, going against the grain makes for a grand display.

The sun-drenched room at Pier 59 was the perfect contrast for the launch of the Brian Lichtenberg Luxury Collection’s avant-garde feel. The collection’s unveiling marked the Los Angeles-based designer’s premiere arrival at New York Fashion Week, and the collection did not disappoint. Riddled with glam rock pieces reminiscent of Parisian punk and grunge, Brian mixed medias of leathers, neoprene, and luxe furs for a collection that calculatedly teeters on the borders of edgy-yet-wearable and over the top.

Brian has gained global notoriety for his cheeky, yet controversial t-shirt collections, but this time around, the designer fused his upscale street sensibility with luxury accents and a nod to punk rock for a 24 piece collection full of wearable classics.

GlobalGrind was on the scene at Brian Lichtenberg’s presentation, snooping backstage to check out the graffiti inspired nails done by New York City-based Nail Lounge, dramatic eyes and pops of lip color by makeup professionals Kryolan, and sleek hair by Matthew Curtis. While checking out the show, we also had the opportunity to speak with New York’s newest resident Perez Hilton, and Downtown’s Sweetheart Vashtie.

Check it all out in the video above and take a look at some closer shots from the show below.
