This is ‘Ye everyday.

A previously unreleased Kanye West interview with MTV has hit the ‘net, and as we suspected, Kanye hasn’t changed much. The interview was initially recorded in 2002 for MTV’s “You Heard It First,” but what’s most interesting is that Kanye’s conviction and passion hasn’t wavered over the past 12 years.

The “Black Skinhead” rapper discusses everything from how he got his start, to producing for Jay Z and Roc-a-fella, and of course, his mother. The hour-long interview is filled with great soundbites of Kanye dropping knowledge like, “I feel like everyone is rapping because it’s free.”

Kanye also reminisces about his love for hip-hop as a teenager, and how he once lived and breathed the culture.

“I remember I got so into hip-hop that I had an afro with no lining, umm, I had a Gap life preserver vest, some Reebok’s with fat laces…I was just tryna be and live hip-hop. But then I figured out like man ‘I’m not getting any girls with this. This is not working for me.’ I would be at hip-hop parties in Chicago and nobody would be dancing with girls.”

If you have some free time, take a few minutes out of your day and listen to Kanye circa 2002.
