Giving new meaning to “stealing candy from a baby,” a Minneapolis man punched an 8-year-old and stole his iPad outside of a restaurant last Thursday.

The suspect, Aaron Stillday, was eventually arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated robbery, but the violent crime still has residents shaking their heads over the frenzy mobile devices cause — and the lengths some people will go to obtain them.

Luckily, a good Samaritan chased the 32-year-old down after the assault, leading police to his arrest.

“Poor kid,” said Mohammad Armeli, the man who chased down the robber. “I can’t believe it, the blood was all over his face. Could have broken his nose.”

“This is the scum of the earth,” he said. “You cannot hit a child like that. Don’t hit him for his iPad, or for anything.”

Turns out, this isn’t Stillday’s first time around the jail block. He’s been arrested nearly 60 times.

“I can’t believe they let him out,” Armeli said.

But here’s a little positivity — the boy’s sister said the family took the shattered iPad to the Apple store, along with video of the incident, and they were given a new iPad.
