On Monday, following the release of a video showing now Ex-Baltimore Raven Ray Rice brutally striking his then-fiancée Janay Palmer, Fox News decided to speak on the issue.

Hey, what can go wrong when Fox (the same network whose hosts recently called Michelle Obama fat and suggested Hillary Clinton would only win the 2016 vote with ‘Beyonce Voters’) decides to speak on the heavy topic of domestic violence?

Everything. In the video above, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade criticized Palmer (now Janay Rice) for marrying Rice just a month after the February 2014 incident.

Clearly Fox News hosts don’t know a thing about abuser dynamics.

Kilmeade, after pointing out other domestic violence incidents, including Rihanna and Chris Brown and the Solange/Jay Z elevator dispute, thought it was a great idea to make this joke:

“I think the message is, take the stairs.”

Wrong. His co-host, Steve Doocey, followed up:

“The message is, when you’re in an elevator, there’s a camera.”

Wrong again.

On Tuesday, Kilmeade, no doubt slammed by viewers for his insensitive comments, took an entire 13 seconds out of the program to address Monday’s mockery.

“Comments that were made during this story made some feel like we are taking the situation too lightly,” he said. “We are not, we were not. Domestic abuse is a very serious issue to us, I can assure you.”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why he spent as much time as it takes you to read this sentence on such an important issue.

But Fox News (and the other millions who have taken to social media to bash Janay instead of holding Rice accountable) weren’t the only ones in hot water yesterday.

Frozen (and delicious) pizza giant DiGiorno decided to jump on the Twitter hashtag #WhyIStayed, a hashtag created to allow men and women to discuss why they stayed in abusive relationships. The tag was a response to the disturbing video showing the domestic violence incident between Rice and his wife.

Thing is, DiGiorno didn’t know that. They were just trying to sling some pizzas:

Twitter users immediately let the company know their comment was out of pocket and trivialized the domestic violence discussion. DiGiorno promptly replied with an apology:

And then replied to everyone with personal apologies.

Seriously. Everyone:

Clearly Fox News needs to hire the apologist behind DiGiorno’s Twitter handle. They could learn a thing or two.
