A family from South Miami was completely outraged after discovering that North Miami Beach police were using mugshots as targets at their shooting range for training. Sgt. Valerie Deant arrived at the venue, when she discovered that the officers were using photos of African American men who had been arrested, with one of the images being of her own brother. A Brooklyn man was arrested by cops after he was pointing something at the police that looked like a gun, but turned out to be a cell phone. Unique Johnson had his “arms extended before him, both hands clasped around an object that appeared to be a weapon, and was pointing it at the head of the cop closest to him in the police car’s front passenger seat.” [The Root]
