It is being rumored that Kanye West is set to perform at this year’s Video Music Awards which will air September 12th on MTV. Though neither MTV nor Kanye West has confirmed or denied this claim, we’d be doing our loyal readers a disservice if we didn’t comment. As previously explored here on Global Grind, we know Kanye and MTV have a rocky relationship at best. Even though MTV just showed Kanye lots of love by premiering his ‘Power’ video, things can always take a turn for the worse and we really don’t want to see that happen. So, in order to ensure that things stay on the up and up we’ve made some rules for Kanye (on behalf of MTV) to follow should he be in attendance at this year’s awards show.

KANYE RULES ON THE NEXT PAGE!

[pagebreak]

1. No Drinking Allowed. Kanye claims that some of his past antics were the results of some ‘a little sippy sippy’. We’re thinking he just may be better off leaving the ‘juice’ alone until the afterparty.

2. No Tweeting During The Show. Sure, Kanye is great on Twitter and his tweets are epic, but do we want him to give the show away? No.

[pagebreak]

3. No Interrupting Acceptance Speeches. Not only is it rude but whenever Kanye interrupts someone, their career skyrockets. That isn’t always a good thing.

4. Be Humble. While humility may be a joke to Kanye, MTV respects it. More specifically, MTV respects when Kanye keeps his thoughts to himself and doesn’t throw tantrums backstage.

5. No Demands. Performing at award shows are a privilege, not mandatory. So when asked to perform, if you are indeed being asked to perform, please do not demand which stage, which time slot, any outrageous theatrics that MTV can not provide and please, please do not demand any awards.. Awards are a privilege and an honor. Don’t blow your chances of ever receiving one.

We believe if Kanye follows these 5 simple rules, his presence at the VMAs this year will be a little more palatable for all.
