In a surprising turn of events, Chris Brown was chosen as the man to pay homage to the legendary Michael Jackson at the 2010 BET Awards. Last year, the BET Awards were the first show to air post Michael Jackson’s death and had three days to put together a tribute for Jackson. Try as they did, their efforts were panned by critics and fans alike.

This year, BET kept it simple and classy by asking Brown to dance through a slew of Michael Jackson’s hits, but the tribute’s most powerful moment came during the last song. Closing out with ‘Man In The Mirror’, Brown couldn’t get past the first few words of the song without completely breaking down and crying. Whether people thought it was an act doesn’t matter. It was, for all intents and purposes, a moment that will go down in BET Awards history.
