So – I’m a Biology/Chemistry Student by Day, R&B/Pop Recording Artist by Night…

I don’t think there could be more of a true Jekyll and Hyde than myself starting a career off in the music industry! By day, I am a fulltime biology/chemistry major at the University of Miami, preparing to apply for medical school one day.

When I’m not working on getting my degree, I am a fulltime R&B/Pop recording artist! Although these two seemingly opposite dreams both take up SOOOO much of my time, I’m still working towards both with full force! I cannot stress enough how doing these two things together, school and music, has changed my life.

Although the two are seem unrelated, I feel like I’m learning so many life lessons, and so much about myself, from both. Oddly, there are a lot of similarities in both careers. Mainly, you must learn how to work relentlessly under any conditions, love what you do unconditionally and never give up, even when it seems like the odds are against you.

The discipline to fight for what I want, the increasing passion for music and my education, and the encouragement I get from succeeding in both fields fuels my fire to continue pushing through! In order to maintain my focus, I have to remember my dreams and not let others distract me.

Don’t let ANYONE tell you that you cannot have anything on this earth that you dream about! Obtaining my degree and releasing my first album is SOO CLOSE, and it’s come because of the dedication, and most importantly, the LOVE I have for what I do! If I can do it, ANYONE can!

Now let me go before my neurobiology teacher catches me on Global Grind! lol! More next time… Until then, say hello to me on Twitter @PhyllisiaMusic!
