Is this Lauryn Hill‘s comeback record? Is this a brand new Lauryn Hill song? We don’t know the answer to either of those questions. We do know we’ve never heard it before. We do know it’s good. We do know it better not be the only song we hear from Lauryn Hill for the next two years.
‘Repercussions’ is a quiet comeback song if we’ve ever heard one. There’s not a lot to it, but the beauty is in its simplicity. Lauryn Hill herself doesn’t necessarily sound amazing here, more like, well, a woman who is slowly getting back to the voice that made her famous. Still, we’re not going to harp on what we think is wrong with this record, like we said, it’s good. Lauryn maybe, slowly, coming back, and isn’t that what’s really important? We think so.
