Hey this is World Famous G-MACK. I’m a DJ and marketing consultant based in Atlanta, Georgia. I was born in Jamaica, but grew up in the Bronx. I moved to Atlanta after receiving a scholarship to Morehouse College. In school I helped to promote college parties as a way to get in free. That led to opportunities to market music, artists and various events going on throughout the city. A friend of mine started djing while on campus and would allow me to open up for him at events. As I continued to practice, my networking ability also allowed me to build relationships that helped me to secure gigs in the market. In time, I was able to move from college parties to mainstream Atlanta nightlife.

The funny thing is that when I first got to Atlanta, I wasn’t particularly interested in the music industry. I had done internships in corporate America every summer since 9th grade. However, the promotional experiences I had sparked a fire that I didn’t know existed until it was already ignited. Growing up in New York City in the 90’s I had always loved music, now was my opportunity to combine what I do with something I appreciated.

I am fortunate to have djed at events hosted by John Legend, Ne-Yo, Nelly, Keri Hilson, Dallas Austin, Ludacris and many others. Currently I am the official dj for the multi-talented songwriting duo and Interscope/Kon Live recording artists Rock City.

My passion is to help creatively market and brand artists, products and services that I believe in. Quite recently, my interests have been international, as the music/entertainment scenes in other countries have expanded. As a result of my travels, I see South Africa as one of the countries poised to make significant contributions to the global entertainment community in the near future. The World Cup will allow everyone to see all that the country has to offer. And, back in Atlanta, there are plenty of artists that are keeping the city hot and redefining its sound.

Throughout my limited success, there are some themes that I would like to share with you which have helped me in my journey:

Be consistent

People need to know what they can expect from you. They want to know that they can count on you. If they hire you, they don’t want to have to worry about whether or not you are capable of doing the job.

Keep learning

In order to get to and stay on top, you’ve got to know what’s going on in and around your industry.

Stay humble

In order to be truly successful, it takes the help of others. Being grounded will allow those people that help you to continue to want to work with you. There’s no room on the team for ego.

Be prepared

There’s an old saying that success is where opportunity and preparation meet; however, I believe that if you are prepared, you have the ability to create your own opportunities. This also allows you to take risks that those who aren’t prepared cannot. Fortune favors the bold.

I am very excited about what the future hold. As tim
