by Marcel MutoniThis has been brewing all season long. It began with whispers that Jason was upset with the Nets because they had yet to grant him a contract extension; there was the infamous migraine game against the Knicks; and now this: Jason Kidd’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, has reportedly asked the Nets to move the ageless point guard to a contending team before the trade deadline. The reality of the matter is that it will be nearly impossible to get equal value back for Kidd, thereby making the trade request almost moot.“Right now things are going very poorly for us,” Thorn said, without specifically addressing the Kidd conundrum. “Historically, those are the times when you don’t get offered what you might consider fair deals. And sometimes you feel that maybe you should do something to do something, but those are the times you have to be very cognizant and careful about what the results of your actions might be.”New Jersey is stuck between a hard and a hard place: They’re terrible with Jason Kidd on the floor; they’re even worse off with him in a different uniform. There’s no easy solution here.Though some are saying Kidd could be making a return to the Western Conference when the dust settles, all one knows for sure is that pro basketball relevancy again in the New York/New Jersey area is a long ways away.© Marcel Mutoni for SLAM Online, 2008. | Permalink | 28 commentsAdd to del.icio.usSearch blogs linking this post with TechnoratiWant more on these topics ?
