Though Michael Jackson died only three days into the filming of Janet Jackson’s new movie Why Did I Get Married Too?, Janet claims that working on the set helped her deal with the grief. Chilling with Oprah the singer says that while the movie was often ‘draining’ it also helped her ‘escape.’
‘Just having to show up for work and transform into a character was also very therapeutic for me after I lost Michael,’ she says. ‘In a way, it was an escape. It’s what I needed to help me get through things. I needed escapism.’ She also said ‘I couldn’t listen to my brother’s music. That’s still hard for me to do. Or to see a picture,’ she told People.
