To celebrate the grand opening of the Converse first New York City retail shop, sneaker heads and celebrities walked to the Soho store for a night of footwear & music featuring DJs Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest) and Albert Hammond Jr.(The Strokes) and a special in-store performance by Brooklyn’s own indie pop band Matt & Kim.

Among the celebs in attendance were designers John Varvatos, Henry Holland, and Ricky and Dee Jackson; musicians Lupe Fiasco, Theophilus London, and Jim Jones; athletes CJ Spiller and the legendary 76ers player Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving, the current faces of Converse’s ‘Join the Procession’ ad campaign; and Academy-Award nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe.

The NYC store has the largest selection of Converses in the world, from the 648 pairs of red, white and blue Chuck Taylors making up the American flag wall installation to its extensive showcase of premium brand collaborations, NYC One Stars, (Product) Red, Jack Purcells and more. The store also houses brand new collections of apparel and accessories involving various styles of denim and snug-fitting sportswear.

Converse NYC is located @ 560 Broadway, New York, NY 10012
