It’s remarkable at what lengths people will go through in order to save something they believe in. School principal Michele Miller spotted a potential solution in her own home when she found out possible layoffs may be hitting her school.

Miller is the principal of Jackson Elementary in El Dorado Hills, a suburb east of Sacramento and she decided to part with some of her shoes collected over the past 15 years. Miller is selling 285 pairs to help close a district budget gap of up to $2.2 million. She’s asking for a donation of $1,000 a pair to help save the jobs of 17 teachers, three vice principals, library technicians and others.

Reading this story we thought it wasn’t right for an educator to sell her shoes in order to save jobs. We also thought it would be way better if your favorite rapper would give up their coveted sneaker collection for a good cause. Sneaker heads from Kanye West to Questlove could put their kick game to a worthy cause.
