Charlotte North Carolina has been an un-tapped market when it comes to hip-hop. Sure they?ve had their success in the R&B field with acts like Jodeci, Anthony Hamilton and Sunshine Anderson but when it comes to hip-hop the conversation goes dead.

Hoping to bring the conversation back-up is Charlotte native Maui. The lead artist of Go Hard Entertainment, Maui has been a staple on the Q.C. underground scene for years. ?I came up performing at places like Studio 74,? said Maui via phone ?I was always out there and trying to get on stage and doing my thing?

But music was always the back-up plan for Maui. Rooted in the streets for most of his life, he recently decided to focus on hip-hop first when he met his manager and co-owner of Go Hard Entertainment Lyte. ?When I met Lyte I knew that I could do this on an everyday basis. Before him I was like, ?aight, I?ll see what this can be? But Lyte showed me that this could be a real possibility?

Since that hook-up Maui has gone on a blaze, lacing every mixtape, website and blog with his mix of street inspired tunes. His single ?Get Right? found its way on mixtape play lists up and down the East Coast and the South. ?We had ?Get Right? playing everywhere earlier this year?

Not content with trying to push one song, Maui took a page out of Drakes book and decided to focus on making a mixtape that performs like an album. ?We?ve been working on the mixtape ?Bricks and Bottles? all year so far. We?ve been close to dropping it, but then we get another concept. We?re definitely dropping it 1st Quarter of 2010.?
