Why not both? B-rocka and Mo both bring something entirely different to the r&b game. Had Baby Girl (R.I.P. AALIYAH) still been alive she would be different than them also. Brandy has such smooth vibrato. Her voice is very raspy, yet it has grown TREMENDOUSLY over years. (Check my girl in the bathroom singing on youtube.com) Monica’s voice—–LAWD—-she takes you to church!! Her voice is raw and strong! Even the content of their songs are different. B-rocka’s last album was a dissappointment (she said so herself), but I loved it! The girl showcased some vcrazy runs on Human. Mo, with the March release of Still Standing blew her fans away! We felt like she never left game but were glad that she did so we could get the material that we got. The brands that are Brandy and Monica collectively tore the house down in 1998 with The Boy Is Mine and both of their fans were satisfied. Big shouts to Rodney Jerkins for that…..he is the best! He brought out the best in both B and Mo and we loved it! Both are church girls and both are southern girls!! Sure early on Brandy and the fam moved to Cali, but those southern roots never die! Being a southern girl myself, I can appreciate what both Brandy and Monica bring to the R&B table! So the next time someone on twitter, myspace, facebook or whatever asks the question, Brandy or Monica—you tell them both. Both of these ladies started out very young and have progressed into very strong women. I love them both!!! (:skips off to listen to Brandy’s Full Moon:)
