More attention must be drawn to the recent rape of a 15-year-old teen in Richmond, California. It enrages me that 10 individuals can stand around laugh and watch a young girl be brutally raped. I hope my statement reaches this brave, young woman.

I, like many other women, know how it feels to be sexually abused at such a young age. You feel dirty and like you will never be the same again. In the darkest hour you must try to find the light and I know this didn’t happen to her to become a negative individual and make the many mistakes that I have. One must glorify the thing that can destroy us. In situations that don’t make sense, to me it just goes to show how God would use evil to help her save other people, as it has me. This young woman must not hang her head low. This is not her fault. She can and she will be a stronger woman. God did not abandon her, but is setting her future up to be a powerful voice for other victims of sexual abuse.

In the US 1.3 women (ages 18 and over) in the US are forcibly raped each minute. That translates to 78 per hour, 1,871 per day, or 683,000 year and does not include pre teens and children. I urge this young woman to hold her head high, be a winner and victorious.

I would personally like to extend my contact info to her and pray this blog reaches her. If you ever need to talk or I can help in anyway please contact Global Grind. I want to show you that there are women like Gabrielle Union and myself who are not taking this lightly and are making a stand. Right now its time to overcome your greatest hurt and try to find a remote positive reason why this happened to you. After I looked in the mirror after 10 years I realized how much this has affected my life.

I was 15 years old when I was abused as well. Now 10 years later, at 25, I have been delivered from my pain. This is a long journey so again if there is anything that I can do for you please contact me as I’m your biggest fan.
