On December 6, 2012, another dog was shot and killed by police, even though he didn’t pose a threat to the officers or the public.

Arturo Gonzalez was sitting on his porch with his dog, Chico Blue, when police arrived because of a phone call they received about a shooting. Even though Gonzalez had nothing to do with a shooting, police still detained him in their car while Chico was locked in Gonzalez’s yard.

That was when one of the police officers threw a lounge chair over the fence at Chico. After that, another officer opened the gate where the dog was enclosed and tasered him twice.

At that point, Gonzalez was pleading with the officers to take Chico inside the house. Unfortunately, his pleas fell on deaf ears.

When one of the officers left the gate open and Chico staggered out, already injured and dazed, another officer standing by the sidewalk drew his gun and shot Chico two times. When Chico tried to run away by jumping in the open door of the police car, an officer kicked the door closed and inside, Chico bled to death.

Yesterday, Gonzalez filed a complaint against the City of Pico Rivera and the County of Los Angeles for this inhumane crime.

This news comes just a week after a video on YouTube showed a Rottweiler that was gunned down by a cop while his owner was getting arrested for a crime he didn’t commit.
