Days after the tragic news of actor Cory Monteith’s sudden death, friends, family and co-stars are grieving their loss and honoring his memory as best they can.
Naya Rivera, Cory’s Glee co-star, released a touching statement about the actor’s passing:
“The entire Glee family and I are deeply saddened by this tragedy,” she said. “Cory was and always will be a part of my own family and a good friend. He was a special part of this world and will forever be missed.”
“My heart goes out to Cory’s family and Lea,” she went on. “and while we are greatful for everyone’s well wishes, privacy during this time of grief is greatly appreciated.”
31-year-old Monteith was found dead in his hotel in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday, July 13. Although an autopsy was scheduled for July 15, the British Columbia coroner’s office told Us Weekly it could be “several days or even a couple of weeks” before the toxicology and autopsy reports determine cause of death.
After the actor’s death was confirmed by Vancouver police late Saturday, fans and other Glee stars sent their condolences via Twitter.

Co-Star Darren Criss honored Cory by wearing a black ribbon while promoting his new film Girl Most Likely.
