Talib Kweli, Nelly and Abby Dobson performed “Before He Walked” last night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in honor of Trayvon Martin. The trio wore black hoodies to show respect to the late teenager.
As they performed the tribute, strong images and clips of racism in America were shown on the set’s screen. “Before He Walked” is a track off Talib Kweli’s latest release Prisoner of Conscious.
The verdict of the Zimmerman trial has caused silent protests in support of justice for Trayvon Martin. Many rappers including Talib Kweli, Nelly, and Abby Dobson are making influential music to support the Martin family and spread awareness.
