Now this is just horrible!

Twenty-six-year-old Virginia mom Carrie Ann Billups has been arrested and sentenced to 12 months in prison after she found her 4-year-old sniffing her cocaine, but waited on taking him to the hospital because she was too afraid that she would go to jail.

The cocaine was hidden under a lamp and when she woke up in the morning, she noticed her son sniffing $10 worth of the drug. When she did, she quickly snatched it and decided not to take him to the ER right away.

Unfortunately, she later noticed her son vomiting. Panicking, she then rushed up to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters where the staff performed a drug test and realized that the little boy ingested the substance.

Luckily, he was treated and released from the hospital the next day.

During Billups’ court hearing, Chesapeake Circuit Judge Marjorie Arrington had strong opinions she voiced to the young mother:

“I don’t think a 4-year-old would know how to snort cocaine unless he’s seen it done somewhere. The court is concerned about what’s going to happen to this child when you are released if you continue to use cocaine.”

We’re glad to know at least the little boy is alright.
