The rumor mill has been abuzz with stories of Lamar Odom‘s alleged struggles with various substances. Today the rumors were confirmed true when the former L.A. Clipper was pulled over and arrested for DUI. While we still have no word on what substances Lamar may be using, his arrest spells trouble.

Substance abuse is common among celebrities. A-listers like Britney Spears, Eminem, and Oprah Winfrey have battled with various addictions. They were all able to kick their bad habits and come out on top. We think Lamar could learn a thing or two from some of his fellow celebrities.

We’ve compiled a list of 11 celebrities who could inspire Lamar Odom to fight his demons.

Check it out.

Oprah Winfrey

At a young age, Oprah Winfrey struggled with poverty and physical abuse. As if that wasn’t enough, she became a regular user of cocaine in her 20s. Her drug use continued throughout the ’80s. Now, she is sober and known as the most successful woman in the world. How’s that for inspirational?

Kid Cudi

After being busted for possession of liquid coke, rapper Kid Cudi saw the error of his ways. The musician had always been an avid user of marijuana, as well as various other drugs. In 2011, Cudi said he was clean from everything. Because he was so proud of his accomplishment, and perhaps in an attempt to remind himself where he had come from, Cudi got tattoos on his wrists to symbolize the death of his old self.

Kelly Osbourne

Though you would never guess it by looking at her now, Kelly Osbourne fought a long hard battle with drug addiction. At age 17, Kelly was hooked on prescription pills, sometimes popping up to 50 in a day. After many stints in rehab, Osbourne changed her life for the better and is now engaged and a cohost on the E! series Fashion Police.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato may be just 21 years old, but she’s been through the ringer. In 2010, Lovato went to rehab for self harm and emotional issues; she also worked through her heavy experimentation with drugs and alcohol.

Mac Miller

Platinum selling artist Mac Miller has never been one to hide his use of marijuana or alcohol from the public. But after picking up a heavy lean habit and losing friends to his addictions, Mac cleaned up his act! The young Philadelphia-born rapper shared a bit of that experience on his most recent album Watching Movies with the Sound Off.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore has perhaps the most disturbing drug history of any celebrity on our list, not because of the severity, but rather the age at which she discovered drugs. By age 11, Drew was a heavy drinker, at 12 she was smoking marijuana and by 13 she had picked up a cocaine habit. Despite all that, Barrymore has gone on to have a very successful career in Hollywood and live a sober life.

Eminem

Though Eminem turned his life around, the rapper fought a hard fight with addiction for many years. Em admitted to being addicted to pills and various other drugs. At one point he was taking more than 20 pills a day. It took a near death experience to get him to change his ways. He now lives a sober life and is gearing up to drop a new album.

Britney Spears

Following major success as a teen pop star, Britney Spears had a pretty serious and highly publicized breakdown – you know, that time she shaved her head and attacked a car with an umbrella? Britney later went to rehab for drug and alcohol abuse. She’s now back and better than ever; she’s touring and was a judge on the hit show X-Factor. If Britney could survive 2007, Lamar can overcome his addictions.

Macklemore

Ben Haggerty, aka Macklemore, is known mostly for his catchy songs and epic hair. What you probably didn’t know is that Ben was once addicted to drugs and alcohol and that his rise to the top nearly cost him his sobriety. “I don’t have moderation when using drugs and alcohol. It got to the point where it was hurting my life, my potential,” he said in an interview. After an intervention from his pops in 2008, Ben entered rehab and it’s been a smooth ascent to the top of the charts ever since!

Samuel L. Jackson

Who would have guessed one of Hollywood’s highest paid and most recognized actors struggled with an addiction to heroin and cocaine? Samuel L. Jackson admits he overdosed several times before heading to rehab in 1991. He has remained sober ever since.

Nicole Richie

In the early 2000s, Nicole Richie struggled with multiple addictions. In 2003, she was busted for possession of heroin. Four years later she was cuffed for being under the influence of Vicodin and marijuana. Since then, Richie has kicked the habit and become a full-time mother of two, wife and entrepreneur.

We hope that Lamar takes this opportunity to enter rehab and get help! Good luck, Lam.
