The man who served as a bodyguard for Nelson Mandela, Jay Z, Lady Gaga and countless other stars and high-profile figures was Tasered to death by police earlier this week.

Norman Oosterbroek, 43, was discovered naked in his neighbor Christiane Jung’s house in the Pinecrest area of Miami on Monday night, allegedly fighting her husband and swallowing an unknown substance that authorities believe were drugs.

That’s when the Miami-Dade police were called.

When police arrived, Oosterbroek became combative with officers, refusing to be subdued and violently resisting arrest.

After Oosterbroek was struck with the Taser, Fire Rescue was called to the home and transported him to Baptist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have theorized Oosterbroek may have been under the influence of some kind of drug; autopsy and toxicology reports are pending.

This is the second time in a month that an individual has died from the use of a Taser by Miami police. An 18-year-old graffiti artist was killed by Miami Beach Police after tagging a building.

Oosterbroek was no stranger to drugs. As the Miami Herald reported, despite his success, he suffered from drug problems and had been in and out of rehab over the years.

But recently his life was on the up. He married and had two small children and spent most of his time between his family homes in New York and South Florida. But, his neighbors say they didn’t know much about the man who protected Rihanna, Beyonce, and once threw a man off stage at a Jay Z concert and broke both of his legs.

Our condolences to his family.
