Want to get a seat at next year’s Met Gala? Well, we suggest you start saving up, because it’s going to cost you a hefty $25 grand. Yes, you read that right, $25,000, a price that has raised significantly from the $15K of years prior.

The Met Gala is one of the most exclusive star-studded events of the year, but most forget that it’s actually a huge fundraiser for exhibitions, acquisitions and capital improvements for the Costume Institute.

Celebrities usually don’t have to pay their way in, due to being guests of designers. But those wealthy folks who might not be as photogenic as Beyonce or Kerry Washington pay big bucks to be part of the glamorous event.

Originally, there were two prices of entry – a $10,000 ticket and $25,000 ticket – but seems like Anna Wintour is amping up the glam factor and wants to make the event even more exclusive, according to the NY Post. Does the price increase having something to do with Gwyneth Paltrow’s snarky commentary on the mediocrity of the event earlier this year?

Needless to say, although the Met hasn’t confirmed the price increase, we can totally agree that it “will make the Met Gala even more high-fashion, even more exclusive and even more aspirational.”

The event is scheduled to happen May 5, 2014 so we have time to gather those pennies, right?
