The legendary Spike Lee took a few moments out of his busy schedule to sit down with us and talk about his remake of the 2003 South Korean film Oldboy. This classic tale tells the story of a man who is mysteriously imprisoned for two decades and after being released, seeks out revenge and answers as to why he was robbed of his freedom.

Spike, who deems the original “a great film,” says he isn’t worried about critics who want to compare his remake and has gotten past anticipating viewers’ reactions. He also talked about the first time he worked with Halle Berry:

“The role that Halle was coming in for was Vivian the $2 Crack hoe, Jungle Fever…. Being in Brooklyn, I had never seen a $2 crack hoe look like Halle Berry (Laughs). She had to come back, she came back more than once, and finally she came back in character and I didn’t even recognize her at first. That’s how she got the part.”

Hilarious! Peep Spike do his thing in the exclusive video above.
