A student was found dead outside of a dorm building near South Carolina State University after a shooting occurred.
According to the NY Daily News, Brandon A. Robinson was shot just outside of the dorm, and was pronounced dead later when he was taken to a hospital. Police are now looking for a suspect.
Robinson was a defensive lineman on the school’s football team, the Bulldogs. There aren’t any leads just yet as to why he could have been the target for the shooting.
University President Thomas J. Elzey said in a statement to the press:
“We are saddened by the loss of one of our own students,” university President Thomas J. Elzey said in a statement. “Our deepest condolences go to the family of the victim.”
Once authorities got word of a perpetrator who wanted to carry out a shooting, the school was put into lockdown at 3 PM, but was lifted at 6 PM.
Unfortunately, Robinson’s murder comes just a week after his stepdad died.
We pray for the Robinson family during this tragic time, and hope that the shooter is found.
