Few producers influenced the hip hop universe in the way that James J Dilla Yancy did. This week we celebrate his life; 40 years since his birth and sadly 8 years since his passing. It would take me an entire article to detail Dilla’s work and his influence. Put it like this; Dilla is to hip hop music what Picasso is to art. Enjoy this new Slum Village track Yes Yes featuring none other than J Dilla. R.I.P….

It took me a few listens but I’m a huge fan of Future’s new ‘Move That Dope’ track. I can tell when Mike Will Made It was working on this beat that he envisioned this song playing in arenas and clubs. The beat is toxic, sour diesel if your smoking. Did I mention Pusha T, Casino and Skateboard P (Pharrell) all have a verse? ‘Yall Betta Move That Dope…”

Just when you think T.I. is having a bad week…He drops some new ish with his entire Grand Hustle army in tow. ‘Hell You Sayin’ definitely has that potential to be epic. It’s Tip featuring Dro, Iggy Azeala and Travi$ Scott. With Pharrell tapped to hold down the bulk of production duties, T.I.’s next album will  no doubt be a smash.

Damian Junior Gong Marley has been holding it down for the Marley clan on the hip hop- roots side. His brother Stephan, in my humble opinion, has always been the sibling that most embodied his late great fathers sound the most. Stephen’s new record Thorn or Rose is a perfect example of that. It features a 16 from the one and only Black Thought that’s easy on the ear. This is great music.

Speaking of Casino, the FreeBandz rapper has hot new music of his own you need to check. The new song Communication features him and Young Thug. This is definitely trunk bumping music especially if you riding on that I 20, I 85 or I 75. Those who rep the ATL know exactly what I’m talking. Until we read again…
